Klasmeier – Precision in Temperature

Graduate Engineers Peter and Thomas Klasmeier

Klasmeier is a medium-sized family business based in Fulda. It has been family-owned for over 35 years and is managed in the second generation by graduate engineer Thomas Klasmeier.

The company specializes in temperature measurement and temperature calibration, operates the Klasmeier Calibration Service, organizes training courses, and produces eXacal precision thermometers.

Over 35 Years – Precision in Temperature

In November 1986, the Klasmeier company was founded as a sales company for temperature calibration equipment under the brand name ISOTECH. Since then, the scope of tasks has continuously evolved. The planning and commissioning of calibration facilities, as well as the high-precision representation and recording of the physical parameter of temperature, were added.

Since 1997, we have operated our own accredited temperature calibration laboratory. Typically, in such laboratories, temperature recording systems to be calibrated are compared in thermostats with calibrated reference sensors. The documented difference is a measure of the calibration result. We take our own approach here by using defining fixed points of the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90) to perform high-precision calibrations. In the temperature range from -189°C (triple point of high-purity argon) to 962°C (freezing point of high-purity silver), these defining fixed points can be represented and measured with an accuracy of up to 1/1000°C (1 mK).

Our fixed points and measuring equipment are linked to the German national standards of the PTB (Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt) and to the English calibration service UKAS as well as the DAkkS. Thus, all measurements and calibrations are traceable to national and international standards. Additionally, we can perform traceable factory calibrations in the temperature range from -200°C to 1300°C.

At the beginning of 2007, we moved into new premises in Flemingstraße in Fulda. This tripled the spatial capacity of our calibration laboratory.

Company History

1986
Foundation of a sales company for temperature calibration equipment under the brand name ISOTECH by Dipl.-Ing. Peter Klasmeier.

1987 – 1996
Continuous expansion of the fields of activity, such as the planning and commissioning of calibration facilities, and the high-precision representation and recording of the physical parameter of temperature.

1996
Commissioning of an accredited DKD calibration laboratory for the parameter of temperature.

The fixed points and measuring equipment are linked to the German national standards of the PTB (Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt) and to the English calibration service UKAS. Thus, all measurements and calibrations are traceable to national and international standards. Traceable calibrations can be performed in the temperature range from -200°C to 1300°C.

2004
Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Thomas Klasmeier is appointed as sole managing director alongside Dipl.-Ing. Peter Klasmeier.

Expansion of the DKD accreditation for calibration at temperature fixed points: DKD calibrations can be performed from -38.8344°C to 419.527°C.

2005
Expansion of the DKD accreditation to include the aluminum fixed point: DKD calibrations can be performed from -38.8344°C to 660.323°C.

2007
The company moves to a larger building in the Münsterfeld / Fulda business park. This triples the spatial capacity of the calibration laboratory.

The new Klasmeier building

2009
Expansion of the DKD accreditation to include the silver fixed point: As the only laboratory in Germany, we can perform DKD calibrations from -38.8344°C to 971.78°C.

2011
Registration of the brand name eXacal.

2011
Expansion of the DKD accreditation to include the argon triple point: DKD calibrations can be performed from -189.3442°C to 971.78°C.

2012
Our calibration service receives a new DAkkS accreditation.
Following a successful audit, the existing DKD accreditation was converted into a DAkkS accreditation.
The new accreditation number of the calibration laboratory is D-K-15224-01-00.

2015
Expansion of the DAkkS accreditation for the calibration of AC/DC temperature bridges with the lowest measurement uncertainties in the DAkkS.

2016
New sales partnership: Klasmeier takes over the representation of the market leader for handcrafted platinum resistance thermometers/temperature sensors, the company TDI- Thermal Development International.

2020
The new eXacal Thermometer Manufactory begins its work. Precision thermometers are now manufactured here through careful manual work in Fulda, Germany. In addition to the design of the thermometers themselves, another focus is the development of proprietary tools and production processes.

2024
The Klasmeier calibration service receives a new DAkkS accreditation.
Following a successful audit, we can now offer accredited proficiency testing according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043. The accreditation number as a proficiency testing provider is D-EP-15224-01-00.

Introduction of SPRTs from in-house production – Klasmeier expands its product portfolio to include Standard Platinum Resistance Thermometers (SPRTs), which are developed and manufactured in-house.
