En la medici\u00f3n de temperatura con un termopar, se utiliza el efecto Seebeck. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Thomas Johann Seebeck descubri\u00f3 accidentalmente que se generaba una tensi\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica entre los dos extremos de una barra met\u00e1lica cuando exist\u00eda una diferencia de temperatura (gradiente de temperatura) en la barra. Tras conectar ambos extremos, flu\u00eda una corriente el\u00e9ctrica cuyo campo magn\u00e9tico detect\u00f3 con una aguja de br\u00fajula. En 1821, Thomas Johann Seebeck logr\u00f3 aprovechar este efecto en un primer termopar.  <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>En el efecto Seebeck, se genera una tensi\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica entre dos puntos de un conductor el\u00e9ctrico que tienen temperaturas diferentes.<\/strong> Para medir la tensi\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica de un termopar, el cable del termopar se conecta a un dispositivo de medici\u00f3n universal. El material de conexi\u00f3n de los dispositivos de medici\u00f3n suele ser cobre. El conocimiento de la temperatura de la uni\u00f3n de referencia es un factor clave para la precisi\u00f3n de la medici\u00f3n de temperatura con termopares. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con los termopares, siempre se mide una comparaci\u00f3n entre un punto de medici\u00f3n \u00abcaliente\u00bb y uno \u00abfr\u00edo\u00bb. Si el punto de medici\u00f3n \u00abfr\u00edo\u00bb se mantiene siempre a una temperatura conocida y estable (p. ej., 0 \u00b0C), esto contribuye directamente a la precisi\u00f3n de la medici\u00f3n de temperatura.
